UK Oil & Gas PLC has announced plans for two independent geothermal projects in the UK and the possibility of a geothermal project in Turkey.
In a statement, UK Oil & Gas PLC (UKOG) states that it has joined the newly established geothermal association, Geothermal Energy Advancement Association, in the UK as part of its geothermal coverage opportunities.
The company is now exploring two new independent geothermal projects in the UK, along with a hybrid geothermal, solar and battery storage project at the company’s Horse Hill site.
At the same time, UKOG states that it intends to review onshore geothermal opportunities in Turkey as part of another oil project. A good Basur-3 estimate that should be drilled is to confirm an oil reservoir at an oil well near the border between Turkey and Iraq.
These publications are quite interesting and point to the growing interest in geothermal by the oil and gas players, not only for oil / gas and geothermal co-productions, but also for independent geothermal projects.
