The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.
Area of Scope
Steam Cracker Unit– Petrochemical process in which saturated hydrocarbons such as naphtha, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), ethane, propane or butane is thermally cracked broken down into smaller, often unsaturated through the use of steam in steam cracking furnaces to produce lighter alkenes (or commonly olefins), including ethene (or ethylene) and propene (or propylene).
Utilities Unit
– Steam,
– Fuel,
– Various waters, air, electrical power, and sewers,
– Utilities
– Co-Generation Systems
Polymers- Polyethylene (PE)/ Polypropylene PP
PE Unipol – Univation Technologies
The site is comprised with 2 state of art Unipol Plants (Univation Technologies).
The 2 gas phase reactors and extruders are designed to produce a variety of LLDPE, HDPE.
Each plant is designed to produce 440 KTA.
Polypropylene (PP)
– Novolen Technology/Lyndoll Basell Technology
Production of polypropylene takes place by slurry, solution or gas phase process, in which the propylene monomer is subjected to heat and pressure in the presence of a catalyst system.
Polymerisation is achieved at relativelyhigh temperature and pressure, and the product yielded is white in colour.
Area of scope:
Accountabilities:
Field Operations Shift Handover:
Accepts shift from previous shift Field Operator with detailed log sheet of operational adjustments and changes during previous shift.
Ensure continuity of operational issues handed over by the previous shift and take necessary action.
Capture all major highlights and constraints experienced during the shift in the log sheet in detail for the following shift.
Inspection of Plant Equipment
Carries out regular, detailed routine inspection rounds of all rotating and static equipment used in operations such as electric motors, gas and steam driven turbines, pumps and compressors, towers, vessels and heat exchangers etc. to ensure accurate and proper functioning of each item independently and in synchronization with other equipment
Operational Adjustments:
Called upon to troubleshoot complex problems and provide guidance to other operators on how to resolve issues in the field, such as issue with a heat exchanger, (critical components that are used to transfer heat between different process stream, the crude oil and the cooling water)
Inspect the heat exchanger for any signs of damage, such as leaks, fouling, or corrosion. They may also need to check the condition of the tubes, the baffles, and the seals.
Use diagnostic tools for heat exchanger such as thermometers, pressure gauges, flow meters, and vibration sensors, to identify any abnormalities in the performance of the heat exchanger.
Additional training and experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to analyse the data collected from the diagnostic tools and compare it with the normal operating parameters to identify the root cause of the problem.
Develop a solution: Once the root cause of the problem has been identified, the senior field operator may need to develop a solution to fix the issue.
Coordinates with the Panel Operator and carries out outdoor (field) operational adjustments of a variety of valves and switches controlling fluid/gas flow rates, levels, pressure, temperature, and chemicals.
Controls and adjusts chemical injection dosage.
Monitors to ensure chemical inventory levels are maintained as per standard.
Data Collection
Records field data on a regular basis by reading the gauges and instruments located on plant equipment in the assigned area.
Logs and shares findings with the Panel Operator in case of significant deviations from the standard operating conditions.
Collects product samples and send it for laboratory analysis as per SOPs.
May be responsible for ensuring that all documentation related to field operations is accurate and up-to-date including maintaining logbooks, updating procedures, and recording maintenance activities.
Start-up, Shutdown & Emergencies
Carries out required activities as directed by the Panel Operator and Shift Team Leader during shutdown and start-up activities.
Facilitate the shutdown and start-up for turnaround, maintenance, and inspection purposes with adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Provides support during emergency situations as per the SOPs and instructions from Shift Team Leader and Panel Operator.
May be responsible for making critical decisions related to plant operations, emergency response, and safety
Maintenance Work Preparation
Facilitates in providing a safe working environment for maintenance work in the process area by isolation, depressurization and draining of equipment.
Ensure staff working in assigned process areas adheres to Permit to Work (PTW) conditions.
Follow up progress and completion of maintenance work.
Performs minor maintenance work such as greasing, coupler gasket and O – ring replacement, painting, bolt tightening, lube oil replacement or topping up etc.
